Two arrested, arms and ammunition seized in J

Srinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) Security forces arrested a militant and an extortionist and seized arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said the Army apprehended a militant and seized two hand grenades during a search operation at Chek-e-Raithan in central Kashmir district of Badgam today.

Police also arrested an extortionist at Qazibagh in south Kashmir's Anantnag district today. He intruded into the house of Muneer Ahmad Shawl and demanded money.

Security forces seized three hand grenades, three UBGL grenades and 110 rounds of ammunition from a hide-out in Rajouri district of Jammu region last evening.

Jayanta flies to Mexico for World Archery Championship finals

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Buoyed with his recent encouraging scores, Jayanta Talukdar flies to Mexico tonight, hoping to shine in the finals of the World Archery Championship scheduled at Merida, Mexico, during October 21-23. Jayanta topped the first World Cup at Perec, Croatia but struggled in the windy conditions in the second leg at Antalya, Turkey where he finished fifth. The Indian could not compete in the El Salvadore World Cup after being denied.....
