Three dead in accident

Howrah, Oct 18 (UNI) Three people died on the spot and one was seriously injured in an accident early today on National Highway six at Dhulagarh under Sakrail police station.

The incident took place when a truck had a head-on collision with a three wheeler. The injured had been admitted to a hospital.

In another incident yesterday, red sandal wood, banned for sale, worth Rs 25 lakh had been recovered from a railway wagon carried from Andhra Pradesh at Howrah station, the Forest Department sources informed.

Social Forestry Howrah Divisional Additional Deputy Director P K Dutta said the goods were recovered with the asistance of police.

Rights group frames a Policy paper for mining companies

Shillong, Oct 18 (UNI) The Meghalaya People's Human Rights Council (MPHRC) has taken one stride ahead of the state government by framing a policy paper for mining companies operating in the state.
