Thousands witness Cauvery Teerthobdhava in Karnataka

Mysore, Oct 18 (UNI) The Theerthodbhava ceremony at Talacauvery, the originating place of river Cauvery in neighbouring Kodagu district, occurred early today, amidst chanting of mantras and veda ghoshas by temple priests.

Devouts, eagerly awaiting the auspicious moment since late last night, thronged around Kundike, the spring where the sacred river takes birth, an hour ahead of the Theerthodbhava. As soon as the water gushed out from the spot, enthusiastic devotees had a holy dip in a pond in front of the place where pooja was offered.

District incharge Minister Ramachandra Gowda and BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda were among those who participated in the event, besides devotees from across the State and neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
