Thenucho to revamp Nagaland police

Kohima, Oct 18 (UNI) The Nagaland government will modernise and improve the state police force by using the methods and technology similar to that of Singapore.

Relating his recent visit to Singapore where he visited the training centre of the Home Department of Singapore and met Minister of State for Home Ho Deng Kas, Home Minister Thenucho told newspersons today that the training used through scientific methods for prevention and detection of crime in Singapore was among the best in Asia.

The Home Minister said the state government has decided to develop a police training institute very shortly. The government has acquired 500 acres of land at Reziephema, he said adding the institute will endeavour to give the best training exercises to the personnel.

BJP leader nags government over water tariff

Itanagar, Oct 18 (UNI) BJP leader and former minister Lijum Ronya has criticised the Arunachal Pradesh government for the recently hiked potable water tariff. In a letter to Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Mr. Ronya alleged that despite abundant water in the state, the government had failed to provide its citizens sufficient potable water. The BJP leader claimed that the Cabinet in its meeting on May 30 had decided to enhance the tariff which over-burdened.....

Vijayawada, Oct 18 (UNI) In order to clear the extra rush of passengers due to Diwali and Ramzan, the South Central Railway (SCR) would run a special train between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam tomorrow. A railway official told UNI here today that a special train will leave Hyderabad tomorrow at 1600 hrs and reach Visakhapatnam at 0545 hrs, the next day. SVU to introduce new course to enhance skill
