'Step motherly treatment to the civic bodies ruled by SS-BJP'

Aurangabad, Oct 18 (UNI) After the spat between the Shiv Sena and BJP over Chimur Assembly seat, the saffron alliance's leaders today, for the first time, came together on a common platform and flayed the Congress-led Democratic Front (DF) government for meting out ''step-motherly'' treatment to the civic bodies they ruled.

Speaking at the inauguration of newly constructed overhead water tank at the Pundliknagar locality here today, Sena Executive President Udhav Thackeray charged the DF government with ''step motherly treatment'' to the Aurangabad Muncipal Corporation (AMC) contrary to the Latur Municipal Council.

''The DF government can make use of their good offices to sanction Rs 3.5 crore for the drinking water project at Latur, but does not have money for the proposed parallel water line for Aurangabad, for which AMC has been insisting the state government for a long,'' he alleged.

Terming the DF government a ''polio-affected patient'' he alleged that it has not done anything except ''corrupt practices'' in last two years of its regime.

Mr Gopinath Munde, who had recently brokered peace between the Sena-BJP when the leaders of the two paries engaged charges on the seat sharing for the by-elections for the assembly seats in the state, reiterated that the ''Saffron alliance would remain in force forever.'' Earlier, speaking on the occasion, the senior BJP leader too alleged the DF government of neglecting the civic bodies ruled by the saffron alliance.

The BJP leader said that the saffron alliance was committed towards the development of the city and declared that the AMC ruled by BJP-Sena could fulfill its assurance of constructing a parallel water line on the Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, in the case, the state government did not support to the scheme.

Shiv Sena's deputy leader and MP Chandrakant Khaire and Mayor Kishanchand Tanwani also spoke on the occasion.
