Shillong attempts world record in drum beating

Guwahati, Oct 18 (UNI) Exactly a week after the Deepwali, it seems that all the drummers of the world are descending in Shillong.

Shillong, the Scotland of the East, is attempting to enter into Guinness Book of World record by bringing together thousands of drummers on the occasion of the Autumn festival.

The Vice-Chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF) Larsing. M. the organiser of the Autumn festival told newsmen that little over 8000 drummers are excepted to descend and play collectively to enter into the Guinness book of the world record.

It will be awesome sight and unprecedented decibel of sound when they would perform in the Nehru Stadium in the Polo ground. The current record is of 7727 drummers.

The secretary of the MTDF Ailban S Mawkhroh informed that the 8000 drummers would play the tune ''Positive Vibrations'' composed by Rudy Walang for 5 minutes to be able to go into the record book.

The Guinness authorities are also sending their representatives for the event as Shillong is making elaborate attempt to host so many of the drummers.

"Positive thinking will produce a positive result," is the motto of highly popular Autumn Festival which has been organised by the Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum (MTDF) a group of individuals and businesses have joined their hands to put a positive light on Tourism related activities throughout Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum has decided to hold some events of this Festival at Sohra and Jowai to involve the rural sectors, exposing them the benefits of Tourism.

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) Moorat trading for the new Hindu calender Vikram Samvat year 2063 in essential and non essential markets are as follows : Trading in spot wholesale sugar market will be held on Monday, October 23 from 0830 hrs onwards. Saudi Arabian delegation to visit India next month
