Aizawl, Oct 18 (UNI) A recent high-level meeting at the Centre discussed fencing of the international India-Bangladesh border, among other things, considering the rise in infiltration along the porous terrain.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Minister DoNER P R Kyndiah and Union Home Secretary V K Duggal attended the high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, besides top officials of various ministries, official sources informed here today.

The issue of unabated influx from across the border from Bangladesh and the progress of the fencing project was reviewed during the meeting.

"The use of the porous Indo-Bangladesh borders by Kashmiri militants and jehadis to cross over to India has shifted the focus onto sealing of the international border and keeping extra vigilance," the official sources said.

Various development schemes being implemented by DoNER and role of the North Eastern Council(NEC) was discussed at length, along with the implementation of the Assam Accord, sources said.

The Prime Minister, sources said, was keen on early implementation of the accord within a specific time-frame. The MHA officials explained to Dr Manmohan Singh about the implementation of the pending clauses, including preparation of the National Register of Citizens, the sources added.
