Railway police to intensify security during Diwali season

Surat, Oct 18 (UNI) Special security measures including checking and combing in trains will be undertaken by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), during Diwali, railway police sources said here today.

About 25 State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel will also be deployed at Surat railway station, sources said.

Sources added that special security arrangements will be provided to 22 railway stations including Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat, during the festive season.

''Security steps will be increased in many trains including Ahmedabad local, Intercity, Suryanagari, Saurashtra Express, Ajmer Express, Jaipur Superfast, Virar-Surat local, Dehradhun Express, Swaraj Express, Sayajinagari Express and Ranakpur Express,'' Surat RPF inspector Rakesh Pandey said.

11 child labourers freed in MP

Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) Eleven child labourers including ten minors, from West Bengal were rescued by the Labour department from the Sarafa area of Indore, official sources said today. Of the 10 children from West Bengal, 5 belonged to Burdwan, three to Midnapur and one each to Hooghly and Howrah districts. US military says 9 troops killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Oct 18 (Reuters) The US military announced today the deaths of nine US troops in incidents in Iraq yesterday, including four soldiers killed when their vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb west of Baghdad. More than 60 US soldiers have been killed in October. More than 2,775 have died since the US invasion in 2003.
