Photo journalist arrested for blackmailing Ludhiana Mayor

Ludhiana, Oct 18 (UNI) The city police today arrested a photo journalist, Amrik Singh Prince, under the Immoral Trafficking Act for blackmailing Ludhiana Mayor N S Gill.

The accused was arrested following a complaint in which the Mayor stated that Prince had demanded Rs 20 lakh from him and in case of refusal, the lensman would make public his obscene pictures with a woman.

The press photographer has been arrested under section 389 IPC and under the Immoral Trafficking Act following the registration of a case against him at the Sarabha Nagar police station.

Indian farmer killed by BDR

Kolkata, Oct 18 (UNI) An Indian farmer was shot dead when a Bangladesh Rifles person opened fire at a village on the international border at Hili in South Dinajpur district today. IG(South Bengal) Somesh Goyal said the BDR man crossed into the Indian territory and shot at the farmer, working in field.
