Meeting resolves to identify, record trees of minor wood products

Sirsi, Karnataka, Oct 18 (UNI) The two-day National Experts Meeting on 'Non-Wood Forest Products - Linking Gender, Livelihood and Management' today resolved to identify and record various types of trees of minor wood products.

The meeting, which adopted some resolutions after detailed discussions, to be sent to the Union and State Governments, also resolved to prepare practices regarding important types of nursery plantations, identify and develop good variety breed, identify endangered species and grow them in agro-forest system.

The other resolutions included giving more encouragement to 'Stree Shakti' groups to plant rare types of minor wood products, preparing special action plan with regard to the collection and process of minor wood products in Uttara Kannada district, stressing on arrangement of smooth marketing of minor wood products and a Nodal Agency to implement the suggestions.

Rs 18 Lakh looted from Purulia UBI branch

Purulia, Oct 18 (UNI) Unidentified miscreants today decamped with with Rs 18 lakh from a United Bank of India branch in Jhalda, 55 kms away from the district headquarters. Life imprisonment to two murderers

Patna, Oct 18 (UNI) A fast track court today awarded life in prison to two people in a murder case. Fast track court judge Kamal Kishore Sinha found Shatrughan Bind and Manohar Bind guilty of killing their co-villager Nandan Bind. JD (U) MLA remanded tojudicial custody

Patna, Oct 18 (UNI) A local court today remanded JD (U) MLA Narendra Kumar alias Sunil Pandey to judicial custody till November 1 in connection with an extortion case.
