Local court awards capital punsihment to three

Moradabad, Oct 18 (UNI) A local court has awarded capital punsihment to three people who were found guilty human sacrifice (Narbali) in Fattepur Dal village in January, 2004.

Additional District Judge S K Agarwal in his judgement delivered yesterday observed the crime to kill 11 year-old Veer Singh was heineous.

He pronounced that Ram Prasad, Shyam Sunder and Harbhajan be hanged to death for the crime.

The three convicts had kidnapped Veer Singh and killed him before a diety on January 19, 2004. They had later surrendred before the court and confessed to have committed the crime.

Deadline for filing of service tax returns by Oct 26

Ahmedabad, Oct 18 (UNI) All service providers registered with the Service Tax, Ahmedabad will have to file their half-yearly ST-3 returns for the period ending September 2006 latest by October 26, said an official release here today. To facilitate filing of returns, special arrangements have been made in the office premises of Central Excise Bhavan, Ambawadi on Ocotber 19, 20, 23 and 24, the release said. BEST to run additional buses for Diwali, Ramzan Id festivals

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has decided to run additional buses on various routes on the occasion of Diwali and Ramzad Id festivals. Indian farmer killed by BDR

Kolkata, Oct 18 (UNI) An Indian farmer was shot dead when a Bangladesh Rifles person opened fire at a village on the international border at Hili in South Dinajpur district today. IG(South Bengal) Somesh Goyal said the BDR man crossed into the Indian territory and shot at the farmer, working in field. The farmer, identified as Chintu Sardar, succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to hospital. When BSF personnel rushed to the spot on.....
