Kerala HC declines to stay CIO's order on Marad report

Kochi, Oct 18 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today declined to stay the Chief Information Officer (CIO)'s order asking the state government to furnish a copy of the judicial inquiry report into the Marad carnage to an applicant under the Right To Information (RTI) Act.

Justice S Siri Jagan issued notice to the CIO and applicant D B Binu on a petition filed by the Kerala Government against the CIO's order of September 28, 2006, directing the government to furnish the report to the applicant within ten days.

Moving the petition today, the government said furnishing the report of the judicial commission, headed by Justice Thomas P Joseph into the 2003 Marad carnage, would impede the investigation.

While issuing notice, the judge refused the plea for a stay.
