Karnataka trounce Chandigarh, Mizoram beat Sikkim

Chennai, Oct 18 (UNI) Karnataka defeated Chandigarh by three goals without reply, while defending champions Mizoram also 'kicked off' their campaign in style with an easy 2-0 win against Sikkim in the opening league matches in Group A, in the 29th Sub-junior national football championship here today.

Karnataka's speedy forwards Sanju Kumar, who opened the account in the 33rd minute to put his team ahead and medio Vishal Kumar's speedy runs upset the Chandigarh defence often in the one sided contst. C Vignesh increased the lead in the 55th minute while Deepak found the net in the 58th. But the Chandigarh team was not able to score as the frontliners lacked finishing.

Earlier, Mizoram after a barren firt session, found their rhythm and edged out Sikkim through Lalh Limpuia's brace, the first goal coming in the 62nd minute. Limpuia found the net again in the 86th minute.

GMR achieves financial closure for TN road project

Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) GMR Group Consortium, comprising GMR Infrastructure Ltd and GMR Energy Ltd, has achieved financial closure for the 73 km Tindivanam-Ulundurpet Road project in Tamil Nadu.
