Job termination of Indian workers after due deliberation

Dubai, Oct 18 (UNI) Under a new labour protocol to be signed between Qatar and India, job termination of Indian expatriate workers can only be done after due deliberation, a visiting Indian minister said.

The protocol will also ensure that the worker gets the full benefits of the contract, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said after talks with local officials.

Mr Ahamed, who is on a short visit to the Qatari capital of Doha said the proposed agreement would guarantee protection of Indian labourers.

It will serve as a model agreement for all countries where there is a large population of Indian expatriate workers.

He disclosed that Qatar, which is hosting this year's Asian Games, has promised to support India's bid for the game in New Delhi in 2014.

Transexuals stage demo, demand action on doctors, nurses

Puducherry, Oct 18 (UNI) Over 200 transexuals from Puducherry and adjoining areas of Tamil Nadu today took out a procession demanding the government to take action against doctors and nurses of the Government General Hospital, who allegedly insulted and abused a transexual. MP to formulate new excise policy

Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government will soon formulate new excise policy under which possession of poppy straw without licence would be prohibited from next year. At present, poppy straw weighing upto one Kg may be kept for personal use and a licence holder can sell upto one Kg. For production of seeds, farmers are permitted to keep upto 5 Kg of poppy straw from which opium essence has been extracted, but seeds.....
