Inspector Pinky suspended following his conviction

Fatehgarh Sahib, Oct 18 (UNI) Punjab police today suspended Inspector Gurmeet Singh Pinky who has been convicted in a murder case, for remaining absent from duty from October two.

Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Shive Kumar Verma here said that Pinky has been suspended for remaining absent from duty.

Pinky had surrendered on Monday and the Session Court of Yamuna Nagar in Haryana awarded him life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs one lakh for the commission of offence under section 302 of the IPC he had of killed Ludhiana resident Avtar Singh.

Pinky had earned a name for himself during the peak of terrorism in Punjab, having gunned down several hardcore militants as an encounter specialist.
