ICAR conducts training prog on cultivation of winter vegetables

Agartala, Oct 18: Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Ramkrishna Krishak Samaj organised a day long training programme for the farmers of Kalikapur village here on Monday.

About 50 farmers from Rampur, Kalikapur and Ranjitnagar villages neighbouring Agartala attended the programme.

Agricultural scientists from ICAR Dr M Datta, Dr M Sankaran and Dr Jai Prakash addressed the farmers about different techniques of cultivation of vegetables and plant protection so that they can have a respite from damage of crops.

Leaflets are distributed among the farmers consisting different information of the vegetable cultivation. Scientists advised farmers to take more attention to the nursery. They also advised farmers to avoid financial losses in marketing.

As part of the training programme ICAR vwill conduct a demonstration of soil treatment at the fields of selected farmers tomorrow to protect seeds from different diseases in seedbed.

Dr N P Singh, Joint Director of the ICAR Centre also spoke about cultivation of good crops and protection measures before the farmers.
