Huge irregularities in Ghogha dairy scheme: MCD Commissioner

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) MCD Commissioner A K Nigam today admitted that huge irregularities had been found in the allotment of dairies under the Ghogha dairy scheme started by the Corporation for alloting plots to those having Gaushalas (cow sheds) in various parts of the city.

''Enquiry on allotment of dairies under the scheme shows that more than half the allotments have either been made to non existent entities or to those showing their dairies on the second or the third floor. In some cases, four members of teh same family had been alloted separate dairies,''Mr Nigam said in a statement after a meeting of the Standing Committee.

Further, some people who had nothing to do with the business were also alloted dairies, Mr Nigam said.

Mr Nigam said the earlier veterinary officer in the MCD S K Yadav had been placed under suspension in this connection and V K Singh appointed in his place.

The statement by the Commissioner came after members, cutting across party lines, raised a furore over the reports of irregularities. Some of them have demanded a CBI enquiry.

The demand for the enquiry came even as the ruling party members, including Leader of the house Jitender Kochar claimed that the Justice L C Jain Committee, set up by the High Court to look into conditions of cowsheds and stray cattle in Delhi, had found no irregularities in the deal.

In his statement, Mr Nigam said he had submitted his report in the matter to Justice L C Jain but was yet to receive a reply.

The issue came after Councillor Brijmohan Sharma objected to the appointment of V K singh in the Veterinary department despite the High Court passing strictures against him.

Standing Committee chairman Jai Kishen Sharma, reiterating MCD's commitment to remove corruption from administration, said if V K Singh was guilty, then action would definitely be taken against him.
