Hooda assures all aid to UK's JCB to set up plant in India

London, Oct 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has assured all assistance from his state government to the UK-based JCB, the fourth largest heavy equipment manufacturer in the world, for setting up a unit in India.

Mr Hooda also visited the JCB plant in London and held discussions with JCB President J C Bamford.

He also attended an interactive session organised by CII in collaboration with Indo-British Partnership Network and was welcomed by Indo-British Partnership Network CEO and Founder Karan Billimoria.

''Haryana is coming up as an investment destination and has the potential to come up as the number one state in India,'' Mr Billimoria said.

Highlighting the potential of Haryana, he said that the state was an ideal investment destination. He invited the British investors to Haryana and assured them of all help.

JCB manufactures over 160 different models of machinery on five continents, employing more 4,000 people. It is engaged in the production of construction and agricultural heavy equipment, including backhoe loaders, forklifts, excavators and dump trucks.

Meanwhile, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation MD Rajeev Arora apprised the participants about the opportunities available in Haryana.

Prior to the meeting, two separate sector specific interactive sessions relating to automotive and infrastructure sectors were organised. The session was attended by a number of NRIs and entrepreneurs based in UK.

Elephant tramples man to death

Madikeri, Karnataka, Oct 18 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, an elephant being chased by villagers and forest personnel trampled to death a farmer at Ankanalli near Shanivarsanthe. Police said Suresh (36) was working in his field along with his brother when an elephant and calf, fearing the drums and crackers used by the chasers, ran towards Suresh and trampled him to death on the spot on Monday. Mysore dist geared up to prevent/control dengue

Mysore, Oct 18 (UNI) The Mysore district administration has geared up to prevent and control the spread of the deadly Dengue fever in the district.
