HC allows election of Exec Committee in Bachchan's Housing Society

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today allowed the appointment of an Executive Committee by election for the 60-year-old Vitthal Nagar Co-operative Housing Society where film actors Amitabh Bachchan, Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan, Danny Denzongpa, and producer Prakash Mehra reside.

Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud directed the state to appoint an election officer within two weeks and conduct the election by December 31.

The petition was filed by Mr Amarjeet Singh Negi, resident, alleging that administrator, S M Mohite, appointed by the Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies (K Ward) last September, whose tenure has already expired, was indulging in financial irregularities, not giving accounts and inspectional documents.

While Mohite had been appointed to curb the ongoing financial irregularities, he himself indulged in the same and the petitioner sought election for setting up a new Executive Committee for the society.

The society had challenged the appointment of Mohite earlier before the Divisional Joint Registrar Appellate Authority but was rejected following which, the petitioner approached the HC.
