DMAT: MP govt order to collectors

Bhopal, Oct 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Department has ordered district collectors concerned to inquire into alleged irregularities in admission to private medical and dental colleges and submit reports by October 26.

Complaints were received by the Judges Committee and state government from Mr Vijay Das of the Jan Vikas Manch, Bhopal, and others. The allegations were primarily about the merit list not being followed and Non-Resident Indians quota entries not being in accordance with a Supreme Court directive.

The Dental and Medical Admission Test was conducted on August 13 for colleges here, at Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Burhanpur. As much as 15 per cent of seats are in NRI quota.

Authorities deny permission for camel slaughter

Kannur, Oct 18 (UNI) A camel brought here from Rajasthan was sent to the neighbouring district of Kasargode after the authorities denied permission for its slaughter. The authorities denied permission for the slaughter after it was found that there was no proper slaughter house in the district. The owner of the animal did not possess proper license from the animal husbandry department, sources said. The authorities took action after the animal welfare.....

K'taka Governor cautions people against dangerous crackers

Bangalore, Oct 18 (UNI) Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi today cautioned the people of the State against use of dangerous fire crackers during Deepavali, stating that parents should exercise caution when their children burst crackers. ''Deepavali is the festival of light, life and laughter. In case, some are keen to use fire crackers, they should exercise caution themselves and ask others, especially children, to handle them carefully. Eyes are precious and damage to eyes.....

32 absentee officials suspended in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today suspended another batch of 32 officials in Ananatnag district for being absent from duty, an official spokesman said. District Development Commissioner Anantnag G A Peer placed the 32 officials under suspension for their unauthorised absence from duty during a surprise inspection of Achabal and Shangus blocks. The suspended officials include 14 employees of CDPO office in Achabal, 11 of BDO office in Achabal, six.....
