Dengue death toll reaches 107, Delhi reports 28 Chikungunya cases

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) The death toll due to dengue has gone up to 107 while 6423 cases of the viral disease and 107 deaths have been reported from the country.

In Delhi, NCR and other neighbouring states, a total of 1731 cases and 31 deaths have been reported of which 1100 cases have been reported from the national capital alone, Health Ministry said here today.

Of the 631 cases reported from outside Delhi 188 cases are from Haryana, 344 cases from Uttar Pradesh, 16 cases from Rajasthan and 83 from other states.

Apart from Delhi, up to Octber 18, the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Kerala (794), followed by Rajasthan (781), Gujarat (449), West Bengal (542),Uttar Pradesh (478),Tamil Nadu (307), Punjab (413), Maharashtra (580), Haryana (223), Karnataka (90) and Andhra Pradesh (35).

Meanwhile, 1653 confirmed cases of Chikungunya have been reported but the disease has caused no death, the ministry has reiterated.

Delhi has reported 28 confirmed cases of Chikungunya.

The maximum number of confirmed Chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679) followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (160), Tamil Nadu (111), Madhya Pradesh (62), Kerala (38), Rajasthan (24) and Puducherry (9).

Yahoo launches chat in Hindi, Tamil

Titan net profit up by 56 pc in Q2

Bangalore, Oct 18 (UNI) Recording a robust growth, Titan Industries saw its net profit ticking fast at 56 per cent to touch Rs 32.18 crore on a year-on-year basis during the second quarter of the current fiscal.
