Constable opens fire; two injured

Pune, Oct 18 (UNI) Two persons were injured after police constable Murlidhar Sambhaji Chandgule opened fire from his service revolver over an altercation with a Chinese food cart owner late last night in Wanowrie area.

The injured persons have been rushed to a nearby hospital and are reportedly out of danger, according to Wanowrie police.

The constable Murlidhar got enraged after chinese food cart owner Raju Deoram Pille took some time to serve his order. As a result, the constable opened fire from his service revolver injuring two costomers.

The cart owner Raju Deoram registered a complaint in Wanowrie police station regarding the incident.

Police have arrested the constable and further investigation was progress, Police Inspector H Y Patil said.

Cashew exports earn US$ 570 million

Kochi, Oct 18 (UNI) Cashew exports earned foreign exchange amounting to US$ 570 million during 2005-06, contributing 0.56 per cent of the country's total export earnings, Cashew Export Promotion Council of India Chairman Walter D'Souza said.
