Centre reviews Indo-Bangla border situation

Aizawl, Oct 18: A high level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister here today informed that the overall situation of North Eastern states including infiltration along the Indo-Bangla border has been thoroughly reviewed.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, DoNER minister P R Kyndiah, Union Home Secretary, V K Duggal and top officials from the Planning Commission also attended the meeting, official sources said.

The meeting stressed on the progress of the fencing project along the border keeping in view the ever increasing infiltration along the border areas near here, sources said.

The Centre's focus was the need to seal the international border immediately as these porous borders were being constantly used by Kashmiri and Bangladeshi militants to spread cross border terrorism, sources said.

The meeting discussed the various developmental schemes being implemented by DoNER and role of the North Eastern Council (NEC), official sources said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the Centre was keen to implement the Assam Accord within a specific time period.

Doctor vouches for Shoaib's innocence, insists pacer never doped

Lawyer says Aniston and Vaughn a happy couple

LOS ANGELES, Oct 18 (Reuters) Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston are still a couple despite tabloid press reports to the contrary and recent photographs showing the comic actor kissing a mystery blonde, a London lawyer said. The lawyer, Simon Smith, yesterday said he had been instructed by Vaughn to sue Britain's Sun and Mirror newspapers and the New York Post for publishing a photo of the actor ''kissing a mystery blonde whilst attending a charity.....
