BJP leader nags government over water tariff

Itanagar, Oct 18 (UNI) BJP leader and former minister Lijum Ronya has criticised the Arunachal Pradesh government for the recently hiked potable water tariff.

In a letter to Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Mr. Ronya alleged that despite abundant water in the state, the government had failed to provide its citizens sufficient potable water.

The BJP leader claimed that the Cabinet in its meeting on May 30 had decided to enhance the tariff which over-burdened the already burdened and poor citizens. Many were not able to pay their water bills, which in turn were getting accumulated to amounts far from the reach of the poor, he lamented.

According to him the government had enhanced the new water connection charge from existing Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 per connections.
