Bank of Rajasthan Q2 at Rs 55.23 crore up by 952 pc

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) The Bank of Rajasthan (BoR) has reported a net profit of Rs 55.23 crore for the quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 5.24 crore in the previous corresponding quarter, thereby recording a growth of 952 per cent.

The total income of the bank has also increased by 98 per cent at Rs 232.12 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 117.09 crore in the previous corresponding period. The earning per share for the quarter is Rs 5.13, a press release here today said.

Commenting on the bank's performance, promoter-director Dr P K Tayal said, ''The commendable performance of the bank during the second quarter of this fiscal is the net result of various measures initiated by the bank.'' The interest earned during the second quarter of this fiscal has also reported a sharp increase, from Rs 123.03 crore during the corresponding quarter last year to Rs 171.55 crore during the quarter ended September 30.

The operating profit of the bank also registered a quantum jump.

While the operating profit of the bank during the corresponding quarter last year was negative by Rs 6.85 crore, the same stood at Rs 72.33 crore during the quarter ended September 30. Capital Adequacy Ratio stands at 13.52 per cent.

Indian national dies in police custody

Kathmandu, Oct 18 (UNI) An Indian national, Manoj Das, died in police custody here on monday. Manoj was caught by a team of police on September 20 in connection with a robbery case in Kathmandu. According to a press release issued by the police headquarters, a three-member panel under the convenorship of SSP Sushilbar Singh Thapa has been formed to investigate into the death. The panel has been urged to submit the report.....

Consumer Courts to dispose cases pending upto 1999 by Feb 15: HC

Mumbai, Oct 18 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today directed the Consumer Court Commissioner to dispose cases pending upto December 1999 by February 15, 2007. A division bench comprising Justices R M Lodha and S A Bobde was hearing a public interest litigation filed by the Consumer Court Advocates Association alleging that more than 15000 cases were pending before the Consumer Court. ''Poor infrastructure is not the reason enough for such large pendency of cases,''.....
