Vacancies in primary schools to be filled up: Kumaraswamy

Mysore, Oct 14 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will fill up all the vacancies in primary schools across the State, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced today.

Declaring at the opening of the 'District Teachers Community Hall', built at a cost of Rs 60 lakh here, he said the State Cabinet had approved the appointment of primary school teachers to which Finance department had too given its nod. The Government had been providing priority to primary education and had sanctioned opening of 500 high schools and 200 junior colleges in the State, besides 67 first grade colleges in taluks in the coming year. All the Assembly constituencies have been provided with high schools, he added.

Mr Kumaraswamy asked the Department of Public Instructions to go soft while effecting transfer of teachers, especially women teachers, and consider it in a humane way.

Referring to the delayed payment of salary to teachers every month, he said funds had been released by the Government and it was the duty of every Zilla Panchayat (ZP) to dispurse it in time.

The Government had instructed all the ZPs not to divert the salary amount for other purposes. He assured the teachers to immediately release whatever arrears were due from the Government.

Chhattisgarh lagging behind in development: Sonia

Needing a paltry 81 for victory, Sanath Jayasuriya with 45 not out and Mahela Jayawardene with 34 not out took them to victory after they lost Upal Tharanga.....
