Dharam Singh demands CBI probe

Gulbarga, Oct 13 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition N Dharam Singh today reiterated his demand for a CBI inquiry into the mining scam and BMIC issue, in which allegations were levelled against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Addressing a press conference here, he pointed out that the U L Bhat Commissions Secretary had stated that the modality of investigation into the allegations levelled by suspended BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy against Mr Kumaraswamy and others would be dealt with in separate proceedings. It had also sought from the State Government the services of a police team to investigate the matter under the supervision of an Inspector General of Police.

''It is proved that the Bhat Commission has not been empowered to go deeply into the scam. It is high time the investigation is entrusted with the CBI,'' he felt.

Accusing the State Government of failing to contain communal violence in Mangalore and now shifting the blame on the district administration, Mr Singh said the Congress did not want to politicise the issue. However, it had informed the Centre about the law and order situation.

He dismissed Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's charge that the Congress had instigated communal violence in Mangalore and challenged him to prove the allegations.
