Titan plans to expand retail presence in Guj

Ahmedabad, Oct 4: Titan is planning to expand its retail presence in Gujarat by taking advantage of the growing number of malls coming up in the state, a senior company official here said.

The company will book corners in several shopping malls that are mushrooming in the city now, Regional sales manager Sujit Chakraborty said. ''We have already done it in the ISCON mall which is coming up here.'' There are already 12 flagship 'World of Titan' stores in the state, four of which are in Ahmedabad.

He said Titan has completely revamped its 'Raga' collection of watches and added 30 new models with attractive designs in the price range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 aimed at women for this festival season.

The collection includes new models based on various elements like flame, starlight, dew drops, leaf and aqua. They are available in steel, gold and gold plated versions.

Talking about sales in Gujarat, Area Sales Manager Narayan Sabharatnam said Titan has cornered 80 per cent of the Gujarat market and is expanding every day.

''Gujarat is an important market for us. We launched the premium Zylus watches in Surat, and almost ten of them are being sold every day,'' he claimed.

The company officials said the company will soon be launching shades.

''Our glares are doing well and comprise almost 10 to 12 per cent of our sales,'' he added.

Sensex trades 100 pts down in noon trade

Rats vs bamboo flowering, a big debate for Mizoram

Aizawl, Oct 4 (UNI) Mizos from time immemorial have believed that feeding on flowering bamboo seeds or fruits increases the fertility of rats thereby increasing their population, however, experts are of a different opinion. Several experts questioned the view at a symposium on 'Bamboo Flowering and its Consequences' here today and presented various papers on it. Mizoram University's Zoology department head K Lalchhandama said so far, no scientific evidence existed to prove that bamboo.....
