West will be brought to its knees sans Pakistan's support: Musharraf

London, Sep 30 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has warned the West that it will be ''brought to its knees'' if his country does not cooperate with it in the fight against terrorism.

In an interview to BBC Radio 4, he said the West would be "brought to its knees" without his country's co-operation in the war against terror. Pakistan was the West's ''main ally'', he added.

''You'll be brought down to your knees if Pakistan doesn't cooperate with you. That is all I would like to say. Pakistan is the main ally. If we were not with you, you won't manage anything,'' he said.

He also mentioned the leaked report in which a researcher at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) claimed Pakistan's intelligence service, ISI, had indirectly helped the Taliban and al-Qaeda.

He expressed his unhappiness over the issue and British Prime Minister Tony Blair had to assure him that the comments did not reflect the British government's view. In the interview Gen Musharraf said ISI's support was vital. ''If the ISI is not with you, you will fail,'' he said.

He reportedly said the US and the UK had a historic debt to pay as Pakistan had helped them ''win the Cold War''.

Gen Musharraf candidly said Mujahideen fighters went into the area from all over the world and the West armed and trained the Taliban. Pakistan was then left ''high and dry''.
