TTD nets record collection of Rs 1.90 crore

Tirumala, Sept 30 (UNI) Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) netted a record collection of Rs 1.90 crore from 1800 hours yesterday upto 1800 hours today during the Brahmotsavam at the Lord Venkateswara Temple here.

The TTD, in a release here this evening, said Hundi collection alone was above Rs one crore while darshan tickets fetched Rs 20.79 lakh. Sale of prasadam including laddus netted Rs 13.52 lakh while the rent collection was above Rs 1.90 lakh.

About 66,144 pilgrim including 15,100 of the Rs 50 special category had darsan till 1800 hours today while 32,875 pilgrims tonsured their heads. Over 75,000 pilgrims had free meals in the TTD Annadanam canteen, the release added.

Exfiltration bid foiled, security personnel injured in blast

Srinagar, Sep 30 (UNI) Police foiled a militant exfiltration bid when they arrested 10 militants in North Kashmir before they could cross over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). Militants detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Sangam road in north Kashmir district of Anantnag today in which one security personnel was injured. He has been shifted to hospital, an official spokesman said. He said police on a specific information apprehended a group of 10 youths.....

Recent Mumbai blasts accused arrested

Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) An accused in the recent blasts in Mumbai was arrested by the Mumbai special branch police here today. According to police sources, the accused Naved was arrested by police at an apartment near Naredmet area in the city. He was later taken to Mumbai. Police said Naved had come to the city immediately after the blasts in Mumbai. Mr Naved was an employee in a call centre here. UNI AP VV.....

Spanish tourist cremated in Varanasi

Varanasi, Sep 30 (UNI) A Spanish tourist, who died here yesterday of cardiac arrest, was this evening cremated at the Harischandra Ghat, as per the wish of his family. Police said here today that Alberto Sanz Duke (33), a native of Madrid (Spain) died here yesterday due to massive cardiac arrest, while going to Varanasi Airport to catch a flight to New Delhi. General Secretary of government approved Tourist Guide Association Sailesh Tripathi told.....
