Preparations in full swing for Panchalinga Darshana

Mysore, Sep 30 (UNI) Preparations are in full swing for Panchalinga Darshana, held once in 12 years, in Talakadu in the District from November 20, Karnataka Minister for Public Works H D Revanna said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that the government has decided to conduct the event in a grand manner on the lines of Mahamastakabhisheka held to monolithic Gomateshwara statute in Sharavanabelogola.

He said that the government has sanctioned Rs 36 crores for the purpose. All approach roads to Talakadu would be developed.

Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) would be spending Rs three crore for improvement of electricity in and around Talakadu.

Mr Revanna said that renovation of 13 temples in Talakadu has already been undertaken. Works in eight temples are already nearing completion.

Brown sugar worth Rs 2 crore seized

Arrah, Sep 30 (UNI) Police here today seized brown sugar worth Rs two crore and arrested five smugglers from separate places in Bhojpur district. District Police Superintendent Umesh Kumar Singh said acting on a tip off a police team conducted a raid at Krman Tola under Nawada police station area and Kashap village area here. Bungling allegation in Delhi Bar Association election

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Advocate Devendra Nath Pal today alleged that he was deprived of contesting the election of the Delhi Bar Association as his name was deliberately deleted from the voters' list. Mr Pal said he had filed his nomination for the post of President of the Delhi Bar Association at Tis Hazari District Courts in the Capital. However, his name was deleted from the list despite paying the association dues till December.....

Polls to 166 mun. councils, two nagar panchayats on Nov 19

Mumbai, Sep 30 (UNI) State Election Commissioner Nandlal today announced that elections to 166 municipal councils and two nagar panchayats in Maharashtra will be held on November 19.
