Passport Office to clear pending cases by next week

Kozhikode, Sep 30 (UNI) The Kozhikode Passport Office would be able to issue new passports in 35-40 days and clear all pending cases by next week, a senior officer said here today.

Talking to media after a Passport Adalat, Passport Officer C K Damodaran said his department was able to curtail pendency with staff deployment even on closed holidays and summoning of additional staff from other stations. Opening a passport office at Malappuram district also helped lessen the burden here, he added.

He said the adalat took a decision to clear about 150 passports after hearing repeated complaints from applicants. As many as 30 passports were issued on the spot and the rest would be despatched in a few days, he said.

Narmada dam work to resume from tomorrow

One killed, another inured in explosion in Rohtak

Rohtak, Sep 30 (UNI) A boy was killed and another seriously injured when an explosion occurred in a house in Ambedkar colony in the city today, police said. The deceased was identified as one Anoop who died on the spot while his friend Rakesh sustained serious injuries in the blast and was admitted to the Post Graduate Institue of Medical Sciences here. Exfiltration bid foiled, security personnel injured in blast

Srinagar, Sep 30 (UNI) Police foiled a militant exfiltration bid when they arrested 10 militants in North Kashmir before they could cross over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK). Militants detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Sangam road in north Kashmir district of Anantnag today in which one security personnel was injured. He has been shifted to hospital, an official spokesman said. He said police on a specific information apprehended a group of 10 youths.....
