Pak refutes Mumbai Commissioner's allegations

Islamabad, Sept 30: Pakistan today refuted Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy charge that its intelligence agencies were behind the July 11 serial bombings in the metropolis.

''Pakistan had offered to help with investigations into the Mumbai train bomb blasts on the basis of evidence and solid information,'' Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tasneem Aslam here.

However, she said Islamabad received absolutely nothing in terms of evidence, information or leads.

''This statement, like those made immediately after the Mumbai bomb blasts, contain unsubstantiated allegations, which the Indian officials and media keep making for propaganda purposes,'' Ms Aslam added.

She said it was quite possible that this was an attempt to divert attention from indigenous elements who may be responsible for terrorist acts in Mumbai and Malegaon.

About 200 people were killed and over 700 injured in one of the worst terror attacks in India's commercial capital on July 11.
