Mamata better, Trinamool unlikely to attend all party meet

Kolkata, Sep 30 (UNI) Even as condition of Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee is ''clinically'' improving, her party is unlikely to attend the all party meeting convened by Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Singur issue.

Doctors at a city nursing home, where Ms Banerjee is being treated, said, ''Ms Banerjee is clinically improving, but she would be kept under close observation for another 48 hours.'' Mamata Banerjee was admitted on Thursday following complaints of chest pain and breathing problems.

''Banerjee's condition is clinically improving, but we still recommend that she should be under close observation and continuous ECG monitoring for another 24 to 48 hours,'' a medical bulletin issued by the Belle Vue Clinic said.

''Her heart beat rate though still below the normal range, is better than before,'' it said.

She was also being treated for a blood clot in her chest.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress Legislature Party leader Partho Chatterjee said the party was unlikely to attend the all party meeting on October 4.

Mr Chatterjee demanded that the government should apologise for the alleged police attack on Ms Banerjee during a demonstration at Singur on September 25.

Ms Banerjee felt unwell while attending a joint rally with the Congress on Wednesday to protest the police lathi charge on a Trinamool dharna.

The Congress, however, said they would attend the October 4 meeting.

Ms Banerjee was leading the dharna on Monday night at Singur in Hooghly district against land acquisition for the Tata Motors car project.
