Jawan arrested for murdering new born daughter

Jaipur, Sep 30 (UNI) A jawan posted at Lalgarh contonment in Sriganganagar district, has been arrested by the police on charges of murdering his new-born daughter.

According to Deputy SP Satyapal Midda, the wife of the accused Ashutosh Singh, a jawan of the Maratha Light Infantry unit posted at Lalgarh contonment, gave birth to a daughter about 20 days ago. This was the couple's second daughter.

However, last Sunday, the infant was brought to the Military hospital at night, where the doctors declared the child brought dead.

The post mortem of the child revealed that the child was strangled to death. Ashutosh, who was questioned by the police, confesed to the crime.

He said an ultrasound test of his wife during pregnancy had indicated a son would be born. But contrary to his expectations, his wife gave birth to a daughter, which led him to plan the murder of the child.

The police ruled out the role of the mother of the child in the murder.
