Improvement Trust chairman in Batala resigns in protest

Batala, Sep 30 (UNI) Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal today resigned as the Chairman of the Batala Improvement Trust in protest, accusing the Congress members here of being ''neck-deep'' in corruption.

In a press conference here, Mr Lodhinangal said some corrupt MLAs of the Congress party have turned the trust into a ''corruption-den'' and he was putting in his papers as he was feeling ''suffocated'' in such atmosphere.

He said that despite bringing up the matter repeatedly with Capt Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister had failed to respond.

Without naming anyone, Mr Lodhinangal said a PCS officer of the Trust, who was posted here for over four years, was involved in corruption of crores of rupees and there were court cases against him.

However, the Chief Minister had taken no proper action against him despite the matter being brought up many time to his notice.
