12 killed, 42 hurt in Afghan blast: Doctor

Kabul, Sept 30: A suicide bomber set off explosives in front of the Interior Ministry in Kabul today, killing four people and wounding 54, police and an Afghan doctor said.

Central Kabul hospitals had reported four dead and 54 wounded, said Health Ministry official and doctor Salam Jalalai.

US Senate votes to extend Iran sanctions

Washington, Sep 30: The US Congress agreed today to extend sanctions on Iran set to expire this weekend that are aimed at choking off funds that could aid Iran in developing nuclear weapons.With Congress scrambling to finish business before heading out to campaign for Nov. 7 elections, the Senate approved a bill that matched one the House of Representatives approved on Thursday to keep the sanctions from expiring.The bill would renew for five more years economic sanctions.....
