Former Home Guards Commander dupes people in unauthorised flats sale

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Police has arrested a former Commander of Delhi Home Guards for cheating several buyers including Delhi University teachers, under the guise of selling 'clean title' flats in Burari.

Accused Pawan Kumar Gupta (58), a former Commander (North and North-West) of Delhi Home Guards, had built the flats on the land which owed nearly Rs 24 lakh to Delhi Jal Board and it was was also booked by the MCD for building unauthorised floors.

Gupta sold the flats to his clients mentioning them that it was a 'clean titled' deal, said the police.

The arrest was made on the complaint of 24 'victims' who had paid between Rs 11-51 lakhs for the flats.

The complaint said that they came to know of their flats being unauthorised after they went to apply for a water connection.

Efforts are on to dig out Gupta's nexus with MCD officials, police added.

Punjab Police Inspector convicted in murder case

Jagadhri, Sep 30 (UNI) A Punjab Police Inspector was convicted in a murder case by the Yamunanagar District and Sessions court today. Inspector Gurmeet Singh alias Pinki was convicted by District and Sessions court Judge Virender Singh on the charges of gunning down a youth named Avtar in Ludhiana on January 7, 2001.
