Five injured in blast

Gwalior, Sep 30 (UNI) Five people were today injured, three of them seriously, in an explosion that took place in an illegal cracker factory operating in a house at Murar sub-town in this district, police said.

The blast took place when crackers were being manufactured at the factory. The explosion was so powerful that it ripped through the building.

The injured were admitted to Jayarogya Hospital.

Basra (Iraq), Sept 30: The governor of Iraq's second city of Basra accused police officers of trying to kill him today after he survived an ambush on his motorcade in which three bodyguards were wounded.''Gunmen in police uniform and others in civilian clothes tried to assassinate me. Japanese Encephalitis toll reaches 191

Gorakhpur, Sep 30 (UNI) Japanese Encephalitis (JE) continued to claim lives in eastern Uttar Pradesh with the toll mounting to 191, following the death of two more children today. Joint director health Dr Umakant Prasad said since April 1,143 people suffering from JE had been admitted to the famous Baba Raghav Das Medical College here. Almost 70 patients -- including 5 fresh cases -- are still under treatment. Some patients are also recuperating at.....

Bhopal, Sep 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive rainfall courtesy a low-pressure area built in upper atmosphere of southern Chhattisgarh. Meteorological department said rainfall occurred in various parts of Chhattisgarh, including in Bastar and Raipur divisions, due to low-pressure area built over southern part of that state. Govt clears United Western Bank-IDBI merger

Mumbai, Sept 30: The Central Government today sanctioned the Scheme for the amalgamation of United Western Bank (UWB) with Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) effective from October 3. Accordingly, all the branches of (UWB) will function as branches of IDBI with effect from the aforementioned date, said a RBI release here today. Customers, including depositors of UWB, will be able to operate their accounts as customers of IDBI from that date.IDBI is making necessary.....
