Bank loans earmarked to common man

Vuyyur (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 30 (UNI) Indian Bank Manager Ramachandra Rao today said 44 per cent of the loans extended by the bank were earmarked for common man and 18 per cent for the agricultural sector.

Speaking on the subject 'Banks in the service of common man', in connection with 'Bharat Nirman public information campaign' here, he said under the 'Rythu Mitra' Scheme, small and marginal farmers were being extended loans for agriculture purposes.

He said Self Help Groups (SHG) could prepare schemes for the development of their village and implement them with the bank's contribution.

He said banks were extending loans for higher studies upto Rs four lakhs.

Mr Rao said full-fledged services of the bank would reach every corner of the country very soon.

TTD nets record collection of Rs 1.90 crore

Tirumala, Sept 30 (UNI) Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) netted a record collection of Rs 1.90 crore from 1800 hours yesterday upto 1800 hours today during the Brahmotsavam at the Lord Venkateswara Temple here. The TTD, in a release here this evening, said Hundi collection alone was above Rs one crore while darshan tickets fetched Rs 20.79 lakh. Narmada dam work to resume from tomorrow

Vadodara, Sep 30 (UNI) The construction work on raising the height of the controversial Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat to 121.92 metres, will resume from tomorrow. One killed, another inured in explosion in Rohtak

Rohtak, Sep 30 (UNI) A boy was killed and another seriously injured when an explosion occurred in a house in Ambedkar colony in the city today, police said. The deceased was identified as one Anoop who died on the spot while his friend Rakesh sustained serious injuries in the blast and was admitted to the Post Graduate Institue of Medical Sciences here. Police have rushed to the site and cordonned off the house. Police recovered.....
