7/11 Mumbai serial blasts case solved: Patil

Mumbai, Sept 30: Maharashtra Deptuy Chief Minister R R Patil today said the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), probing the July 11 serial train blasts case, had solved it.

In the blasts, 186 people were killed and nearly 700 injured.

He was talking to reporters at Mantralaya (secretariat) here after Director General of Police P S Pasricha, Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy and ATS chief K P S Raghuvanshi held a detailed meeting with him.

Mr Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, said the investigation in the case has been completed and links have been established and the mastermind is based across the border. More arrests are likely. So far, the total number of accused arrested is 14.

The Minister informed that a fast-track court would be set up to expedite the trial and conviction of blasts accused. He expressed confidence that the entire process would be completed in a span of two years.

Dr Pasricha, Mr Roy and Mr Raghuvanshi will address the media at 1500 hrs, he added.

Margao, Sep 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh boys blanked Maharashtra 2-0 to win the Narang Cup title in the finals of the West Zone Interstate Badminton championship played at Multi-puropose hall here today. In the girls' events, defending champions Maharashtra beat Madhya Pradesh 2-0 to retain the Shafi Quareshi cup.
