3 die during treatment by quack

Chhatarpur (MP), Sep 30: Three people died and another was in serious condition after they were given certain injection by a quack at a village in Chhatarpur district.

Police said four people, suffering from a fever and stomach pain, approached Rajendra Khare for treatment at Gugwara village near Buxwaha in this district on Thursday. They were given two injections each following which their condition worsened.

The four were taken to Jabalpur medical college hospital, Kalla Khangar (35) died on the way and all were brought back to the village. Subsequently, Kanhai (20) also died at the village.

The remaining two were hospitalised at Sagar, where Ms Siyarani Lodhi (32) died yesterday. The condition of Chhota Ahirwar (45) was stated to be critical.

As the quack was absconding, police broke open the clinic and recovered empty ampules and other medicines stocked there.

New Delhi, Sept 30: Mr G K Pillai of 1972 batch of the Indian Administrative Service took over as Commerce Secretary here today.He succeeds Mr S N Menon who superannuated. Prior to his appointment as Commerce Secretary, Mr Pillai was Special Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, dealing with matters relating to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), RMTR (Regional and Multilateral Trade Relations) and UNCTAD.He was also looking after matters.....
