HC employee held for cheating people for Rs 50 lakh

Chennai, Sep 29 (UNI) The Central Crime Branch police today arrested a Madras High Court employee for allegedly cheating several persons with a sum of Rs 50 lakh, for the past several years.

Police said, the accused Hari Babu (52), the Bench Officer of the Madras High Court has collected the amount as commission with a promise that he would get business loans from various banks.

But, he neither obtained loan nor returned the commission amount, despite repeated attempts by those who paid for it.

Three of them filed a complaint against him.

Meanwhile, after the formation of High Court's Bench at Madurai, he was transferred to Madurai.

However, he was placed under suspension, during the last year, following a case registered against him. He was absconding since then.

Acting on a tip off that the accused was hiding at his friend's house in Royapuram in the city, a police team conducted said and arrested him, police added.

Indian eves squander lead, lose 2-3 against Germany in World Cup

Quake rocks Trinidad, Venezuela, some damage
