Woman kills three daughters; commits suicide

Madikeri, Karnataka, Sep 22 (UNI) A woman killed her three daughters by throwing them into a tank, before committing suicide in a similar way, at Tolur Shettalli near Somwarpet here.

Sachini (30), wife of labourer Ganesh, took the extreme step after she was allegedly raped by one Sudhakar.

Police said Ganesh, returning from work, found Sudhakar of the same village running from his house when Sachini was alone. An enraged Ganesh chased Sudhakar with a sword, but failed to trace him. Then Ganesh shouted at Sachini in an inebriated condition and went to sleep. In the morning, Sachini and the children -- Supreeta (13), Sushmita (11) and Shobita (8) were found missing. Later, Sachini's body was found floating in Devarakere and the other three bodies were also subsequently fished out.

A complaint was lodged with the police, who were on the look out for Sudhakar.

Two labourers crushed to death by truck

Sangrur, Sep 22 (UNI) Two labourers were crushed to death by a cement ladened truck in Badruao village, near here, police here said. The victims were identified as Ramdin and Mandeep. Toll mounts to 39 in torrential rains
