Welspun obtains approval for Gujarat's first textile SEZ

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) The Board of Approvals, Ministry of Commerce, gave its nod to Welspun Anjar SEZ Ltd, Gujarat's first Textile SEZ, in Kutch, Gujarat.

The SEZ, which will span over 750 acres, will be strategically located near Mundra/Kandla ports in Gujarat. The investment outlay shall be to the tune of Rs 750 crore, an official release here today said.

The SEZ is expected to attract investment of Rs 2,000 crore and will generate employment for 15,000 people. It will also provide boost to ancillary industries and will contribute to the overall socio economic development of the region.

The first phase of the SEZ is expected to be operational within one year. The SEZ will be equipped with state of art infrastructure and utilities tailor made for textile industries. It will also house schools, crhches, hospitals and other necessary supporting amenities.

IOC in talks with Reliance to sell NG in cities & towns; Behuria

Govt borrowing to be in line with budget: RBI

Kolkata, Sept 22: Allying worries of possible increase in borrowings, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor Rakesh Mohan today said the government's second-half debt programme would be in line with its budget."The borrowing programme will meet the budget target, " Mr Mohan said when asked by reporters in the sidelines of a CII-sponsored interactive session with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. Japanese Encephalitis toll mounts to 176

Gorakhpur, Sep 22 (UNI) The deadly vector-borne menace, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), continued to claim lives of children in eastern Uttar Pradesh with the toll mounting to 176, following one more death today. Joint director health Dr Umakant Prasad said since April, almost 1,050 people suffering from JE had been admitted at Baba Raghav Das Medical College here.
