Warrant issued against MP CM, other BJP leaders

Raipur, Sep 22 (UNI) A local court has issued bailable warrants against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, two Chhattisgarh ministers and 57 other BJP leaders in connection with a case registered against them during an agitation five years ago.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Satyabhama yesterday ordered issuance of bailable warrants against Mr Singh, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Amar Agrawal, PWD Minister Rajesh Munat and about 57 BJP leaders after the police filed the charge sheet against them.

Police had registered a case under various sections of IPC after leaders of BJP, which was then in opposition, organised a gherao of the official residence of then Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.

After the BJP came to power, the state government had withdrawn three other cases registered against the BJP leaders. Three other cases were still pending for disposal in the courts.

Bahugana against eucalyptus plantation in Punjab

Jalandhar, Sep 22 (UNI) Noted Environmentalist Sunder Lal Bahuguna today cautioned farmers of Punjab against planting eucalyptus trees and excessive use of fertilisers for achieving the bumper crop.
