Small tea garden workers settle bonus issue

Siliguri, Sept 22 (UNI) Workers of 92 small tea plantations in Darjeeling district would be getting puja bonus at the rate 8.50 per cent.

The North Bengal Tea Planters' Association announced this after a meeting with trade unions of the small tea plantations.

The workers rejoiced the decision through celebrations in front of the plantations.

Merchandise exports up 41 per cent

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) India's merchandise exports increased by 41.41 per cent to 10.3 billion dollar in August 2006 from 7.35 billion dollar during the same month last year. 432 ambulances for REHT scheme: Rosaiah

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Medical and Family Welfare K Rosaiah today said under the Rural Emergency Health Transportation Scheme (REHTS) a total of 432 ambulances would operate across the state. Addressing a press conference here, he said each segment would cover about 1.3 lakh population. Illegal weapons factory busted

Morena, MP, Sep 22 (UNI) Police have unearthed an illegal weapons factory, which supplied arms to criminals within Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, and arrested two persons. CSP Jaibir Singh Bhadoria told UNI that 25 partially-assembled crude guns, nine country-made guns and several implements were seized. Distillery seeks direction to govt to buy liquor from it

Chennai, Sept 22 (UNI) The Midas Golden Distilleries Private Limited (MGDPL) today moved a petition in Madras High Court, seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu Government to purchase liquor manufactured by it as done till April 2006, maintaining 23.63 per cent with respect to overall sale of TASMAC as was done earlier or in an alternative fixed by the court.
