SE fined for pilfering power in Karnal

Karnal, Sep 22 (UNI) A Superintendent Engineer (SE) of Uttari Haryana Bijli Nigam has been fined for pilfering power at his residence here.

A vigilance team of the Bijli Nigam, during a videographed raid at his house here yesterday, found seals of the meter tempered for pilferage.

A fine of Rs 24,545 was slapped on him with a deadline of 72 hours. If the fine was not paid, a criminal case could be registered against the SE, sources said.

The raid was carried out by vigilance officials Arvind Garg and Vinod Goyal along with sub-urban SDO Surender Nakkar and the police.

SE R S Jain, who is incharge of Metering and Protection (M and P) Uttar Haryana Bijli Nigam with his office in New Delhi, was not present at his house during the raid.

Taking into cognisance the high post of the SE, the whole operation was videographed. The power supply to the house has been cut off and the meter involved in the pilferage has been sealed and taken possession of by the officials, the sources added.

Two prisoners escape from hospital

Judicial custody of prime accused in bank scam extended

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) The City Metropolitan Sessions Court today extended judicial custody of Kosaraju Venkateswara Rao, prime accused in the multi-crore bank scam case, till October 19.
