Rupee weakens by 4 paise to Rs 45.90/91/USD

Mumbai, Sept 22: The Indian Rupee today weakened by four paise to close at 45.90/91 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 45.85/87 per US Dollar, as the demand for Dollar grew in the oil companies after crude oil prices inched little higher, a money market trader said.

Earlier, Rupee opened strong at Rs 45.80/81 per US Dollar and in the mid morning session traded relatively high at 45.93/94/US Dollar to finally close weak at 45.90/91 per US Dollar.

RBI fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 45.94/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 45.88 per US Dollar on Thursday.

The six month forward premia was fixed low at 1.21 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed flat at 1.25 per cent.

Rupee performance against other currencies declined too, against Euro, Rupee closed down at Rs 58.72 (58.25), against Pound Sterling it closed down at Rs 87.14 (86.84)and against Yen, it closed down at Rs 39.43 (39.13).

Bharti to finalise retail model by Oct: Mittal

Kolkata, Sept 22: Diversified telecom conglomerate Bharti Enterprises Ltd will finalise the business model for its proposed retail venture by October, its chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said today. "An internal team of the company and consultants are evaluating the business model to be adopted for the venture. We will be ready with the details of the project by October," Mittal, who runs India's top mobile services provider, told reporters. Mittal was speaking on the sidelines of a CII sponsored interactive.....

ITC interested on retail ventures in West Bengal

Kolkata, Sept 22: ITC Ltd is interested in cash and carry operations in the horticulture sector in West Bengal, its chairman Y C Deveswar said today. The company is also interested in developing a food park and a logistic hub, Deveswar said in the sidelines of a CII organised interactive session with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. The company has initiated talks with the state government for implementation of the proposed ventures, he said.The.....
