Probe into fake RC books progressing

Pondicherry, Sep 22 (UNI) The investigation into the making of fake R C Books and selling of stolen vehicles is progressing, police said.

The culprits involved in the racket would be booked soon. Several persons, including brokers and employees of the transport department were being questioned, they said.

Denying media reports that a woman employee of the transport department was arrested, police said so far a mechanic and a car broker only were arrested.

It may be noted that a person, who purchased a second hand car found that the RC book of his vehicle was that of a moped here, when he attempted to get a loan on his car.

Following this, he preferred a compaint with the Grand Bazaar police, who registered a case and started investigation. During the course of the probe, police arrested the car broker and mechanic and on questioning, they found that several other cars were also plying here carrying numbers allotted to mopeds. Police also impounded four such cars.

Judicial custody of prime accused in bank scam extended

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) The City Metropolitan Sessions Court today extended judicial custody of Kosaraju Venkateswara Rao, prime accused in the multi-crore bank scam case, till October 19. Mr Rao, former chairman of the now defunct Krushi Co-operative Bank, was extradited from Bangkok, as allegations of scam surfaced. Although, Rao was to attend the court today, he was not produced.
